I earned my PhD at Leiden University and then joined the University of Pennsylvania as a postdoctoral fellow. My research focuses on using gravitational waves to test gravity and cosmology, with particular interest in how propagation effects can modify their amplitude, polarization, and waveform. I study these questions both within modified theories of gravity and General Relativity, especially considering gravitational lensing beyond the geometric-optics approximation. I am also interested in effective-field-theory approaches to gravity, black-hole physics, and bringing methods from quantum and high-energy physics into gravitational-wave propagation.
