Job Proposal

Chaire de Professeur Junior – Fluid Mechanics for environmental Transitions

(published on May 26, 2025)

Profile Required

Holders of a doctorate or a PhD or equivalent degree or applicants who have gained scientific qualifications or carried out scientific work deemed to be of an equivalent level. There is no restriction on the age or nationality of applicants. All CNRS positions are accessible to people with disabilities, with special arrangements for tests made necessary by the nature of the disability

Institution Strategy

Climate change, health and environment, and the energy transition represent three of the six societal challenges highlighted in the CNRS’s 2019-2023 Objectives and Performance Contract.
The theme of this junior professorship is part of this strategy, which aims to develop research and tools related to fluid mechanics associated with these challenges.

Host Lab Strategy

The four host laboratories (InPhyNi, LPENS, LPENSL, SPEC) have made the development of the theme of this junior professorship a strong focus of their scientific policy in the laboratory. All have active research groups in subjects having overlaps with this domain, with whom the successful candidate will be able to collaborate.

International Strategy

The interface between fluid mechanics and the physics of environmental transitions is a field that is developing in many international institutions, in particular in several universities with which the CNRS has strong links (IRL, IRC). At the CNRS Physics level, several International Research Projects include this theme in their programs.

Post-doctoral contracts

Junior Research Chair at the Physics Department

The Labex ENS-ICFP appoints two or three new chairholders each year. Awardees are granted two-year postdoctoral positions with competitive salaries, travel funds as well as research allowances for experimentalists. The JRCs are appointed directly at the departmental level. The program aims at full integration of the JRCs into the department : a mentorship program is set up and JRC awardees participate in teaching.
More information can be found there.

Postdoctoral Position at the Philippe Meyer Institute for Theoretical Physics.

Other Postdoctoral Positions.

Depending on their grants, researchers and research teams at LPENS have various openings for post-doctoral positions. Look at their web-pages.

Doctoral contracts

The thesis offers of the LPENS teams, including funding opportunities, are listed on the sites of the doctoral schools, ED564, ED127, or ED397, to which LPENS is attached.
They can also be consulted on the pages of the research teams.
