A large part of the subjects studied by the Fluids and Interfaces Axis researchers concerns fluid mechanics, explored at every imaginable scale, from molecules to galaxies. Often related to the previous topics are also considered problems related to solid mechanics, soft matter, granular media, instabilities and statistical physics. The axis has a strong experimental component but also includes theorists and numerical scientists.

The Fluids and Interfaces Axis is composed of the following the teams :
Non-linear physics.
Mechanics, soft matter, morphogenesis.
Micromegas: Nano-fluidics.
