The team, made up of theorists, is working to shed light on the behaviour of biological objects, from the molecular and cellular scale to that of the whole organism, from biophysics to neuroscience. The large number of elements involved and their complex interactions make the tools of nonlinear and statistical physics particularly relevant. The issues studied range from the formation of intracellular structures to the normal and pathological development of organisms, and from the dynamics, coding and learning in neural systems to cognitive functions. Theory and modelling are part of a close dialogue with experience, in collaboration with various laboratories in France and abroad. In addition to its main themes of activity, the team is also interested in related topics: active matter and out-of-equilibrium physics, statistical physics of learning, complex systems.
