She earned her PhD at Leiden University and then joined the University of Pennsylvania as a postdoctoral fellow. Her research focuses on using gravitational waves to test gravity and cosmology, with particular interest in how propagation effects can modify their amplitude, polarization, and waveform. She studies these questions both within modified theories of gravity and General Relativity, especially considering gravitational lensing beyond the geometric-optics approximation. She is also interested in effective-field-theory approaches to gravity, black-hole physics, and bringing methods from quantum and high-energy physics into gravitational-wave propagation.
