This award honors the work of Zaki Leghtas on the development of superconducting qubits that are robust against errors. These circuits, made up of wires and superconducting islands visible to the naked eye, exhibit quantum behavior on a macroscopic scale.

The Quantic team at LPENS designs innovative circuits that continuously exchange energy with their environment in order to encode error-resilient quantum bits. This work has inspired the creation of the French startup Alice & Bob, which is now competing with the American and Chinese giants of the quantum tech industry.
